West Side Helping Hand staff and volunteers had a busy and exciting week!!

On Friday, Jennifer Hammond, principal of Zavala Elementary invited us over to Zavala for the “Meet the Teacher” event. Staff and volunteers passed out over 75 bags of school supplies to students, and sign-up forms for our after school program. Thank you to the staff of Zavala who are excited for our program and ready for a new school year!

On Saturday, staff and volunteers spent the entire day out in Bayside, Texas, braving out Texas-sized mosquitos, as well as passing out food…with an unusual twist.
Our spot became an unofficial drop off site of donations for the town. Convoys of people dropped off non-perishable items and toiletries, household items and clothes for people who were in need…and people responded. We had a lot of people stop by and pick up what they needed.

A very sincere thank you to all our volunteers who have taken time out of their very busy week after the hurricane to give back to the community! Please continue to pray for the communities who were affected by this natural disaster. Together, we will continue to help the community rebuild, hand in hand.
